...And if for some reason ANet doesn't allow use of the trade channel in EB, the nickname "Embargo Beach" needs to catch on.

I don't see why trade would be prohibited there, to be honest. ANet will want to see this get as many people there as possible so this outpost catches on in popularity almost instantaneously (and stays that way). Forbidding trade is a big chink in that armor from the get-go, IMO.

I do think ANet won't have a lot of patience with chat spammers early on to make sure the outpost doesn't become a mad house. If trade is allowed, I'd be sure and use the trade channel for it.

I hope it becomes a trade hub. That'll make it easier to sell some stuff in storage while waiting for a PUG to form.

I would rather it didn't become the new trade hub. Its purpose is supposed to be for forming parties, having that plus basically kamadan in one party search wil be crazy. Yeah if people would stick to trade chat it might be ok but what are the chances of that xD

I believe the move will happen. And it will become a center for trading. And like many said, hopefully will be well policed enough that traders will stick to the right channels.

I cannot wait though to see it unfold. At least something exciting is happening.

Another way to control the trade/spam would be to introduce an auction house. But since its being implemented into Gw2 i dont know if they'd add one to Gw1

They best increase the number of people that can be present in a district.

This is going to be a complete fail otherwise when a player is trying to get into a active district to group only to be met by this district is full. Ya quarter/half full of trade spammers and afk'ers.

All you need for that is to go to a higher district with your party if you are looking for a group. I prefere to look for traders in Spamadan dist 2 and up. If a player is not willing to move up from dist 1 to complete a trade, then he does not want to sell it and Im happy to leave them in dist 1 repeating over and over again "WTS" if that dist is full.

Maybe I'm just an asshole, but I am definitely not looking forward to the guild recruitment spam. That crap irritates me more than the trade spammers. At least we can turn the trade channel off. Maybe the recruitment spammers will get their own turn-off-able channel, as not to pollute the airwaves with their annoying garbage.

They already said that embark beach will be the one stop place for people wanting to form parties or to set up your hero parties and do the same.

Since people will be heading out then presumably returning to eb with goodies they have gathered I assume they will start selling there too.

Certainly items and resources that are needed or desired for missions will be traded in eb.

I doubt farmers will go from eb to the farming area then off to la kamadan etc top sell then back again.
Those offering runs will probably advertise in eb too its sure to become one busy place.

Should find out in a couple of hours.

I believe I already mentioned this a couple of times. It's quite easy to make the trade interface better:
1) Add a case insensitive quicksearch field to the party window. You put in "zkey" or "wtb", it only shows ads that have "zkey" or "WTB" in them.
2) Show the entire ad text as a tooltip when you hover over an entry. Currently it's truncated so it's almost useless, you have to either contact the person or wait for them to spam again.
3) Once you have 1+2 there's no use for trade channel spam anymore. So take it up a notch and add spam caps. If you spam more than N messages in T minutes you are muted for X minutes. Extra spam during the mute extends it further. Just sit pretty and wait for the buyers to find you.
4) Make it so you can start a whisper with the person directly from the party window. That whole "join the party" has its uses when actually meeting for the trade, but sometimes you just wanna talk to them, bargain etc.

I sure hope not. LA + Kamadan combined would be insane. GTOB is accessible by everyone and nobody trades anything there but z-keys so I doubt it will happen.

I would like to see Embark have the Trade channel completely removed and they begin banning people for spamming All Chat with trade requests. If not this city will indeed be just a sales spam fest

Why not just do the latter? if all the trade spam is in Trade Chat then it presents no problem to those who want to group there.

Frankly, the more people who are at Embark Beach, the more likely you are to find a group. There will be people who go there to trade and end up joining a mission group and vice versa.

i got a feeling it may - consider this , not everyone has all campaigns so trade can be a problem for those with single campaigns. If embark is accessable by everyone then im sure it will become the trade hub of gw.Ive noticed myself la has really dropped in trade and kamadan has increased - dunno why tho.
Infact its more than a feeling when i think about it - embark will be the main outpost in gw for obvious reasons and likely players will be selling consets as you tend to sell consets where you know they will sell - toa/doa as examples. Therefore soon as a conset seller moves in , theory wise or lgoic dictates that rest will follow.
I see a bleak future for la/kamadan/ascalon and kaineng - the only real players there will be ones doing storyline/vq and a small amount of trade.

Those that keep spamming in the All Chat should be indeed banned.
First 2..3 times they spam for a while in all trade, temporal bans.
Keep doing that, permanent one.

Of course there's always accidents. But no one posts 20 trade messages withing 15 minutes in the All Chat as an accident.

But I won't remove trading from the post. You can just ignore it. Collapse the trade section, hide the trade chat, and trade is no more. Or at least it should be.

I don't expect trading to be a problem. People have gotten much better about using the trade channel. Guild recruiting messages, on the other hand... UGH! Not that there are many recruiters spamming, but with the number of different recruiters, the chat channel is going to get crowded.

I really hope it doesnt become the new spamabeach for the sole reason that districs will be full of traders and an occasional LFG player that cant join the group in another dist because its full. EB is made for pugging, not standing around making the trade channel go 1000 miles an hour.
